Maritime sector officials, inatasang tulungan ang mga stranded na pasahero sa mga pantalan
“When I saw the news, I was mad and fuming.”
Ito ang naging pahayag ni Transportation Secretary Art Tugade matapos mapaulat na ilang pasahero ang stranded, na may kasamang mga bata, sa Manila North Harbor.
Agad nagpatawag ng pagpupulong ang kalihim kasama ang Philippine Ports Authority (PPA), at iba pang transport officials at ahensya bandang 8:30, Miyerkules ng gabi (January 19).
Ipinag-utos nito na payagan ang mga stranded na pasahero na makauwi sa kani-kanilang probinsya.
Ani Tugade, simula pa noong umpisa, ikinokonsidera na ang “returning home” bilang isang uri ng essential travel.
Sinabi rin nito na bigyan ang mga pasahero ng pagkain, asistihan sa kanilang ticket, at bigyan ng tulong pinansyal.
Base sa ulat, hindi makauwi ang mga bata dahil hindi bakunado at walang dokumento sa pagbiyahe ang kanilang mga magulang.
Pagdidiin nito, “My instruction from the very beginning is plain and simple— The No Vaxx, No Ride/Entry policy should be implementated as patient and tolerant as possible, but firm.”
Inihayag muli ng kalihim ang dating direktiba sa transport sectors na magtalaga ng vaccination stations sa mga iba’t ibang lugar, katulad ng ipinatupad ng road sector at itinayo sa Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange noong July 2021.
“Make sure to continue our vaccination efforts at the PITX. Put similar vaccination facilities in rail stations and in North Harbor,” ani Tugade.
Dagdag nito, “I have also ordered the Toll Regulatory Board to consider having vaccination stations at NLEX and other Toll Roads. This is now being discussed by the TRB with toll operators.”
