Sen. Cynthia Villar: Livestock industry sa bansa makakatulong sa food security ng bansa
Naniniwala si Senator Cynthia Vilar na malaking tulong sa seguridad sa pagkain sa bansa ang livestock industry na binubuo ng baboy, poultry at dairy.
Ito ang dahilan kayat nais ni Villar na palakasin ng husto ang industriya.
“The livestock sector should be able to guarantee food security and reduce poverty in the countryside by giving better income and jobs to farmers and their families. The sector’s development can improve availability and affordability of safe and nutritious livestock, poultry and dairy products for the 110 M Filipinos,” diin nito.
Hiniling na ng senadora sa Department of Finance (DOF) na pag-aralan na pag-aralan ang sektor at ito ang magiging basehan ng gagawin nilang panukalang-batas.
Puna ng chairperson ng Senate Committee on Agriculture maraming problema at isyu sa sektor na nangangailangan ng agarang pagtugon ng gobyerno.
Banggit niya maraming panukala sa Senado na inihain nina Sens. Lito Lapid, Sonny Angara, Ralp Recto at Francis Pangilnan na layong palakasin, protektahan at palaguin ang sektor.
Nabanggit din ni Villar ang dapat na pagkakaroon ng Department of Agriculture ng ahensiya para sa regulatory, disease control at development ng industriya ng livestock at dairy.
