Lockdowns, ihinto na; Tutukan ang mass testing, contact tracing – party-list solon

Sa halip na magdeklara ng lockdown, hinimok ng AP Party-list ang gobyerno na tutukan ang pagbibigay ng libreng antigen at RT-PCR tests.

Ayon kay AP Party-list nominee Ronnie Ong, kung mas paglalaanan ang mass testing, mas maayos na mahihiwalay at maisasailalim sa isolation ng health authorities ang mga may sakit nang hindi nagagambala ang kabuhayan at trabaho ng mga COVID-free.

Makasisira aniya sa momentum ng micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) ng bansa ang panibagong deklarasyon ng quarantine lockdown sa Metro Manila at kalapit-lugar.

Giit pa nito, maaantala ang economic recovery ng bansa, lalo na ang mga MSME dahil nauubos na ang kanilang kapital bunsod ng mga serye ng lockdown.

“I just wish that government should also look at their plight and support them by providing free antigen and RT-PCR tests to all. Let us not disrupt the people who are Covid-free by providing free and periodic mass testing,” saad ng kongresista.

Ani Ong, mas maiging resolbahin ng Inter-agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF) ang problema sa nakahahawang sakit sa pamamagitan ng massive vaccination, mass testing, at epektibong contact tracing.

Kahit matagumpay ang mass vaccination program ng gobyerno, dapat din aniyang magkaroon ng epektibong surveillance mechanism sa pamamagitan ng mass testing at tamang contact tracing.

Ayon pa sa mambabatas, dapat magtayo din ang gobyerno ng mga pasilidad para sa mass testing, isa sa antigen at isa pa para sa RT-PCR tests.

Sinuman aniyang magpositibo sa antigen test ang isasailalim sa RT-PCR bilang confirmatory tests. May opsyon naman ang mga magpopositibo sa antigen test na pansamantalang manatili sa quarantine facilities ng gobyerno habang hinihintay ang resulta ng kanilang RT-PCR.

“Our economic recovery will be disrupted if we continue resorting to lockdowns every time that we have a surge. We should already accept that Covid will not easily go away and government policies should be directed towards proper and effective surveillance,” saad ni Ong.

Aniya pa, “Instead of spending hundreds of billions for ayuda as a result of lockdowns, the government should invest in mass testing and contact tracing. These lockdowns do not only destroy our country’s economy. It also destroys the lives of many small businessmen and their employees.”
