Pumanaw na si National Artist for Literature F. Sionil Jose sa edad na 97.

Si Sionil ay isang multi-awarded writer kabilang na ang Carlos Palanca Memorial awards.

Itinanghal si Sionil bilang National Artist for Literature noong 2001.

Ginawaran din si Sionil ng Ramon Magsaysay Award for Journalism, Literature, and Creative Communication Arts noong 1980, at CCP Centennial Honors for the Arts noong 1999.

Pumanaw si Sionil kagabi, January 6 sa Makati Medical Center.

Nakatakda sanang sumailalim sa angioplasty si Sionil ngayong araw, January 7.
