Defensor, ipinaliwanag kung bakit kailangang mahuli agad ang hackers
Ipinaliwanag ni Anakalusugan Rep. Michael Defensor kung bakit kailangang mahuli agad ang mga responsable sa hacking incident sa ilang BDO Unibank Inc. deposit accounts.
“Until and unless the suspects are apprehended and interrogated in custody, we may never know their real motives, aside from the cybertheft of a few million pesos,” saad ni Defensor.
Sakaling nagpaplanong umatake ulit ang mga suspek, mahahadlangan aniya ito kung mahuhuli agad ang hackers.
Dagdag nito, “We must also stress that the certainty of getting caught and punished is our best deterrence to other would-be threat actors in cyberspace.”
Hindi rin dapat aniya inaalis ang posibilidad na gumagawa ng pagsasanay ang hackers para sa mas malaking pag-atake laban sa iba pang financial institution.
Aniya, “What is clear is that the hackers succeeded in breaching the defenses of a bank’s computer system, and they now have an idea as to how much time they need to break in and escape with the loot before they are discovered.”
Naunang sinabi ng Union Bank of the Philippines (UBP) na natukoy ang anim na indibiduwal na hinihinalang nagsabwatan sa pag-hack ng BDO accounts.
Nadiskubre ang naturang insidente matapos ipaulat sa pamamagitan ng social media ng humigit-kumulang 700 na BDO depositors ang hindi awtorisadong Instapay transfers patungo sa hindi totoong account ng isang “Mark Nagoyo” sa UBP.
Nauna nang sinabi ni Defensor na sa ilalim ng batas, kakasuhan ng economic sabotage at habambuhay na pagkakakulong ang hackers.
