30 PCG personnel itinalaga upang makatulong sa operasyon sa Siargao Island, Surigao City

Nagtalaga ang Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) District Northern Mindanao ng 30 personnel upang makatulong sa search and rescue (SAR) at disaster relief operations sa mga lugar na apektado ng bagyong Odette, lalo na sa Siargao Island at Surigao City.

Ayon kay Captain Geronimo Tuvilla, Commander ng PCG District Northern Mindanao, gumamit sila ng 10 mountain bikes at anim na land assets para maibiyahe ang mga donasyon tulad ng food packs, hygiene kits, generator sets, dog foods, potable drinking water, at laruan para sa mga bata.

Ani Tuvilla, ang bisikleta ang pinakamainam na transportasyon sa mga lubhang nasalanta ng bagyo dahil limitado ang resources sa nasabing dalawang bayan.

Inatasan din ang mga tauhan ng ahensya na aktibong makipag-ugnayan sa lokal na pamahalaan, maging sa Coast Guard stations at sub-stations, para sa kinakailangang karagdagang suporta.

“This is our calling and this is what we are sworn to do. We need to sacrifice in order to save others. This challenging times activates the ‘bayanihan spirit’ within us,” dagdag nito.
