Nasabat ng Bureau of Customs – Port of NAIA ang mga smuggled na gagamba sa Central Mail Exchange Center (CMEC), Pasay City.
Ayon sa ahensya, na-import ang mga gagamba mula sa Poland at naka-consign sa isang indibiduwal sa Olongapo City.
Selyado ang kargamento ng postal envelope na may mga papel at idineklarang “origami”.
Nang isailalim sa x-ray scanning at masusing physical examination, natagpuan ang 10 piraso ng gagamba.
Tinatayang nagkakahalaga ang kargamento ng P75,000.
Naaresto ang claimant ng BOC-NAIA Enforcement and Security Service Environmental Protection Compliance Division (ESS-EPCD) dahil sa paglabag ng Section 1401 na may kinalaman sa Section 117 ng Republic Act 10863 o Customs Modernization and Tariff Act (CMTA) at Republic Act 9147 o Wildlife Resources Conservation and Protection Act.
Dinala ang claimant sa Philippine National Police para sa inquest proceedings.
Dinala naman ang mga nakuhang gagamba sa Department of Environment and Natural Resources Wildlife Traffic Monitoring Unit (DENR WTMU) alinsunod sa Customs Administrative Order No. 10-2020.
