Anti-Terror Law, ayon sa Konstitusyon, maliban sa dalawang probisyon – SC
Dalawang probisyon ng Republic Act 11479 o ang Anti-Terrorism Act ang idineklara ng Korte Suprema na labag sa Saligang Batas.
Sa abiso mula sa SC – Public Information Office (PIO), sa botong 12-3, ibinasura ng mga mahistrado ang Section 4 sa katuwiran na paglabag ito sa ‘freedom of expression.’
Gayundin ang pangalawang paragraph ng Section 25 ng naturang batas.
“On the basis of the current petitions, all the other challenged provisions of R.A. 11479 are not unconstitutional,” ayon pa rin sa abiso.
Higit 30 petisyon ang isinumite sa Korte Suprema na kumukuwestiyon sa legalidad ng naturang batas, gayundin ang hindi muna pagpapatupad nito.
Sinabi naman ni Sen. Panfilo Lacson, ang pangunahing nag-akda ng batas, irerespeto niya ang desisyon ng Korte Suprema at umaasa siya na ito rin ang gagawin ng mga tutol sa Anti-Terrorism Act.
