78,000 jeepney operators, maari nang gamitin ang P7,200 halaga ng fuel subsidy

Pwede nang gamitin ng 78,000 jeepney operators ang P7,000 na “one-time” fuel subsidy para sa kanilang drivers, ayon sa Department of Transportation (DOTr).

Kasunod ito ng pormal na paglulunsad ng Fuel Subsidy program kasabay ng ceremonial signing ng Joint Memorandum Circular (JMC), sa pangunguna ng DOTr at Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB), sa pagitan ng iba pang ahensiya kabilang ang Department of Energy (DOE), Department of Budget and Management (DBM) at Land Bank of the Philippines (LBP).

Sa datos ng LTFRB, mahigit 136,000 public utility jeepney (PUJ) operators o franchise holders ang kwalipikadong benepisyaryo ng naturang programa.

Sa nasabing bilang, 85,000 ang may aktibong Pantawid Pasada Program (PPP) ATM cards mula 2018 hanggang 2019 at mula sa bilang ng active PPP ATM card holders, nasa 78,000 operators ang maaari nang gumamit ng subsidiya para sa pagpapakarga ng krudo ng kanilang drivers.

Sa mensaheng ibinahagi ni DOTr Undersecretary for Finance Giovanni Lopez, inihayag ni Transportation Secretary Art Tugade na tulong ang fuel subsidy sa mga driver at operator ng PUJs na lubhang naapektuhan ng COVID-19 pandemic at pagtaas ng presyo ng langis.

Sinabi naman ni LTFRB Chairman Martin Delgra III na patunay ang P1 bilyong halaga ng fuel subsidy na patuloy ang malasakit ng pamahalaan sa PUJ drivers at operators.

Kapwa suportado naman ng DOE at LBP ang implementasyon ng programa.

Maaaring gamitin ang fuel subsidy para ibayad sa ikinargang krudo mula sa gas stations na nakikiisa sa programa. Kabilang dito ang Petron, Shell, Seaoil, Total, Jetti, Rephil, Caltex, Petro Gazz, at Unioil.
