BI, naka-standby sakaling magbukas ang Pilipinas para sa mga dayuhang turista

Naka-standby na ang Bureau of Immigration (BI) sakaling magdesisyon ang gobyerno na buksan ang Pilipinas para sa mga dayuhang turista.

Sinabi ni Immigration Commissioner Jaime Morente na wala pang eksaktong petsa kung kailan muling bubuksan ang bansa para sa dayuhan.

“While we are awaiting the official announcement from the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-MEID), we have already put in place the needed manpower and facilities in preparation for this,” pahayag nito.

Nauna nang inanunsiyo ng ahensya na hindi maaring maghain ng vacation leave ang kanilang frontline personnel sa kasagsagan ng holiday season.

May 99 pang bagong immigration officer na kinuha para maitalaga sa iba’t ibang BI port at office sa bansa.

“We have also resumed the use of our e-gates for arriving Filipinos as it would greatly lessen the processing time for our kababayans who will be returning here for Christmas,” ani Morente.

Sa ngayon, nananatili ang ipinatutupad na travel restrictions sa bansa habang hinihintay ang pormal na anunsiyo ng IATF-MEID.

Aniya, tinatalakay pa ng mga miyembro ng IATF-MEID ang panukalang muling pagbubukas ng Pilipinas para sa mga dayuhang turista.

“Most probably, those coming from green list countries will be the first ones to be allowed entry,” saad nito.

Ayon naman kay BI Port Operations Division Chief Atty. Carlos Capulong, mayroong 44 bansa na kabilang sa green list, habang nananatili sa red list ang Faroe Islands at the Netherlands.
