Sen. de Lima hindi bumilib sa banat ni Pangulong Duterte sa China
Kinuwestiyon ni Senator Leila de Lima na inabot ng ilang taon bago naglabas ng mabigat na pahayag si Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte laban sa China matapos na rin ang pagpapataboy ng Chinese Coast Guard sa dalawang Filipino supply ships sa Ayungin Shoal noong nakaraang linggo.
Sinabi ni de Lima na mas mabigat pa ang pahayag ng U.S. State Department na nagpapaalala sa China na ang anumang uri ng pag-atake sa mga sasakyang-pandagat na nakarehistro sa Pilipinas ay maaring maging mitsa para ipatupad ang nilalaman ng RP-US Mutual Defense Treaty.
“Duterte’s statement shows that the DFA was no longer taking any chances on his off-the-cuff remarks on international incidents such as the recent use of water cannons by China on Philippine supply ships. That was not Duterte speaking, but the DFA,” ayon pa sa senadora.
Diin pa ni de Lima, tanging si Pangulong Duterte lamang ang dapat sisihin sa pang-aapi sa Pilipinas sa isyu ng agawan ng teritoryo sa West Philippine Sea dahil sunod-sunuran lang ito sa nais ng China.
“We always had a Chinese puppet for a President in Duterte. His mouthing fighting words against China as prepared by the DFA does not make him any less so,” sabi pa nito.
