Papalitan ni Centino si General Jose Faustino Jr. na nagretiro sa araw ng Biyernes, November 12.
Si Centino ang Commanding General ng Philippine Army at miyembro ng Philippine Military Academy (PMA) “Maringal” Class of 1988.
Sa pamamagitan ng kaalaman at karanasan nito, sinabi ng AFP na kayang pamunuan ang kanilang hanay upang suportahan ang pananatili ng kapayapaan laban sa mga banta.
“His integrity, management acumen and genuine desire for peace and development make him a competent leader who shall guide the AFP in fulfilling its mission while supporting national efforts to battle the current pandemic,” pahayag nito.
Dagdag nito, “The appointment of Lt. Gen. Centino will prompt an upward movement in the AFP leadership that will further inspire our soldiers to surpaas challenges with excellence and continue our campaign towards genuine transformation.”
