BI nagbabala vs pekeng ahente na nangha-harass sa mga dayuhan

Nagbabala ang Bureau of Immigration (BI) laban sa mga pekeng immigration agent na nangha-harass ng mga dayuhan sa bansa.

Ayon kay Commissioner Jaime Morente, nakatanggap sila ng mga ulat na ilang indibiduwal ang nagpapanggap na ahente ng ahensya, na nangha-harass ng dayuhan at kung minsan pa’y nangingikil.

“A victim sent us a letter for verification of a notice he received via courier, inviting him to the BI office in connection to a purported investigation, lest be charged and deported,” ani Morente.

Ang naturang liham ay pirmado ng isang “Special Agent Juanito Balmas”, na base sa beripikasyon, hindi empleyado ng ahensya.

“The victim was being asked to appear before the BI on a Saturday,” pahayag ni Morente at aniya pa, “We have no office during Saturdays. We suspect that whoever was trying to harass him will meet him nearby, and possibly extort money from him.”

Noon pa man, sinabi ng BI Commissioner na nagbabala sila laban sa ilang modus operandi kung saan sangkot ang mga pekeng empleyado.

Nilinaw din ni Morente na ang legal notices ay ipinapadala sa mga dayuhan gamit ang official letterhead ng BI at pirmado ng lehitimong empleyado ng ahensya.

Maaring makita ang contact information ng lahat ng BI offices sa buong bansa sa official website na www.immigration.gov.ph.
