PASAHERO Partylist sinuportahan ang panawagan sa pagsuspindi sa fuel excise tax

Isinama na ng PASAHERO Partylist ang kanilang boses sa mga nananawagan ng pagsuspindi sa excise tax sa mga produktong-petrolyo.
Sinabi ni PASAHERO spokesman lawyer Homer Alinsug hindi lamang mga motorista ang makikinabang kundi ang publiko sa pangkalahatan kapag nabawasan ang ipinapataw na buwis sa mga produktong-petrolyo.
“Suspending the imposition of fuel excise tax will help Filipino families recover from the hardships of the pandemic,” aniya.
Babala lang din ng tagapagsalita ng Passengers and Riders Organization Inc., kapag nagpatuloy ang pagsirit ng presyo ng mga produktong-petrolyo tataas na rin ang halaga ng mga pangunahing bilihin na lubos pang magpapahirap sa mamamayan ngayon may pandemya pa rin.
Paliwanag din nito kailangan na amyendahan ang Republic Act 10963 o ang Tax Reform for Acceleration and Inclusion (TRAIN) Law na nagpataas sa excise tax sa mga produktong petrolyo mula 2018 hanggang 2020.
Paglilinaw naman niya kung sususpindihin ang naturang buwis ito ay hanggang tatlong buwan lamang.
“The suspension should only be for a limited time in order to balance the ill-effects of prolonged revenue losses on the part of the government which in turn will negatively affect its ability to fund government projects or activities ie address COVID-19 or other pandemic,” diin ni Alinsug.
