Withdrawals, substitutions sa 2022 elections posibleng dumami – Comelec

Hindi isinasantabi ng Commission on Elections (Comelec) na dumami ang bilang ng mga kandidato na aatras sa kanilang kandidatura at makikipagpalit ng posisyon na tatakbuhan.

Sinabi ni Comelec spokesman James Jimenez ang ‘withdrawals’ at ‘substitutions’ ay maaring dumami sa mga naghain ng kanilang kandidatura para sa national positions.

“I think at the national level, that is a very distinct possibility,” sabi nito sa isang panayam sa telebisyon at dagdag niya; ” At the local level this is pretty common but at the national level this is sort of, as you said, unprecedented.”

Base sa Comelec Resolution No. 10717, ang kandidato na namatay, umatras o nadiskuwalipika ay maaring mapalitan ng isang kapartido.

Hindi pinapayagan ang ‘substitution’ sa isang independent candidate.

Noong Martes, binawi ni Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte ang kanyang certificate of candidacy (COC) sa pagka-alkalde kayat lumakas pa ang hinala na tatakbo siya sa isang national position sa papalapit na halalan.
