Sen. Grace Poe may panukala na masuspindi ang excise tax sa mga produktong-petrolyo
Naghain ng panukala si Senator Grace Poe na layon masuspindi ang koleksyon ng excise tax sa mga produktong-petrolyo kapag $80 ang halaga ng Dubai crude oil sa tatlong sunod na buwan.
Kapag naging batas ang Senate Bill 2445, bababa ng P10 kada litro ang presyo ng gasoline, samantalang P6 naman ang matatapyas sa halaga ng kada litro ng krudo.
“The rising cost of fuel is certain to have a spillover effect on the cost of other products, especially food which accounts for a big chunk of a household’s expenses. Such will aggravate poverty and hunger among our people. If government cannot substantially provide for its people, then at the very least, it must do all it can to ease their burden,” sabi pa ni Poe.
Binanggit nito ang ulat ng Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) na bumagsak sa 5.3 porsiyento ang food inflation noong nakaraang buwan mula sa 21.3 porsiyento noong Setyembre.
Layon ng panukala ni Poe na maamyendahan ang Section 148 ng National Internal Revenue Code para payagan ang suspensyon ng paniningil ng excise tax sa gasolina at krudo.
Ang Department of Finance sinabi na P131 bilyon ang mawawalang kita ng gobyerno kapag sinuspindi ang excise tax sa gasolina at krudo.
