BI, handa sakaling magbukas na ang Pilipinas para sa mga dayuhang turista
Siniguro ng Bureau of Immigration (BI) na handa sila sa sakaling magdesisyon ang gobyerno ng Pilipinas na buksan ang pinto para sa mga dayuhang turista kasunod ng patuloy na pagbaba ng bilang ng kasong COVID-19 sa bansa.
Pahayag ito ng ahensya matapos sabihin ni Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque ang posibilidad ng pagbubukas ng Pilipinas sa international tourists sa kasabay ng pagbaba sa Alert Level 2 ng Metro Manila.
“Should the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-MEID) and the Office of the President see that the country is ready, we will be happy to welcome again foreign tourists to our shores,” saad ni BI Commissioner Jaime Morente.
Aniya, “Our frontline officers at the airports are ready and prepared, and we assure the traveling public of uninterrupted service should they decide to travel to the Philippines.”
Bumuo na aniya ang ahensya ng response plan upang maresolba ang pangangailangan sa manpower sakaling bumalik na sa normal ang international travel.
Inihayag naman ni Atty. Carlos Capulong, pinuno ng BI Acting Port Operations, na itinutulak ng bagong rapid response mechanism ang mobilization ng BI personnel na nakatalaga sa iba pang operating units para sa pagsasagawa ng inspeksyon, at supervisory duties tuwing maraming pasahero.
Hinihintay na rin aniya ang appointments mula sa Department of Justice (DOJ) para sa 195 na bagong immigration officers na maitatalaga sa loob at labas ng Metro Manila.
Matatandaang napaulat ang 72 porsyentong pagbagsak ng international arrivals sa unang tatlong kwarter ng 2021 kumpara sa kaparehong petsa noong 2020.
