Pangulong Duterte may bilin sa kapwa ASEAN leaders sa South China Sea issue
Hinikayat ni Pangulong Duterte ang mga kapwa pinuno na kasapi ng Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) na patuloy na isulong ang kaayusan sa South China Sea.
Sa pagdalo ni Pangulong Duterte sa 38th ASEAN Summit, sinabi nito na bilang mga kasapi ng isang regional bloc nararapat na gumawa ng mga hakbang na ayon sa UN Convention of the Law of the SEA (UNCLOS), gayundin base sa 2016 Arbitral Ruling na pumabor sa Pilipinas.
“We have come a long way in keeping the peace and promoting prosperity in our region. We must not allow those with diverging interests to make our efforts fail,” pahayag ng Pangulo.
Dapat din aniya na sundin ang nilalaman ng 2022 Declaration of the Conduct of Parties in the South China Sea, na kanya ng isinulong sa 24th ASEAN – China Summit.
“Talks should not remain empty rhetoric. They should be translated into action to fortify the trust and confidence we have cultivated through the years. Acta non verba. Deeds, not words,” diin ng Punong Ehekutibo.
