Mandatory vehicle inspection sa PMVIC, suspendido pa rin – LTO
Nilinaw ng Land Transportation Office (LTO) na suspendido pa rin ang mandatory inspection ng motor vehicles sa private motor vehicle inspection centers (PMVICs), alinsunod sa direktiba ni Department of Transportation Secretary Art Tugade.
Kasabay nito, sinabi rin ni LTO Chief, Assistant Secretary Edgar Galvante na hindi ipinag-utos sa PMVICs na ihinto ang kanilang operasyon.
Mayroon aniyang opsyon ang mga motor vehicle owner kung sa PMVIC o private emission testing center (PETC) ipapasuri ang kanilang sasakyan para sa roadworthiness at pagsunod sa Clean Air Act.
“Ang na-suspend lamang ay iyong mandatory inspection sa PMVICs, at implementation ng GAORs. Ibig sabihin, sa mga lugar kung saan may mga PMVIC, malaya pa ring makapamimili ang tao kung sa PMVIC o PETC magpapa-inspect ng sasakyan bago magpa-rehistro,” ani Galvante.
Matatandaang naglabas ng kautusan si Tugade noong Agosto sa lahat ng regional office ng LTO na suspindehin ang mandatory inspection and testing ng mga sasakyan sa PMVICs.
Ipinag-utos din ng kalihim ang suspensyon ng mandatory vehicle testing sa geographic areas of responsibility (GAORs).
Ayon sa DOTr, layon ng suspensyon na mabigyang-daan ang masusing pagre-review sa polisiya nito.
Samantala, nagpaliwanag din si Galvante ukol sa bagong IT system ng LTO na Land Transportation Management System (LTMS).
Layon aniya nitong mapabuti ang paggamit ng Motor Vehicle Inspection and Registration System (MVIRS) at makakalap ng sapat na datos sa pag-assess ng status ng mga sasakyan sa bansa pagdating sa roadworthiness at kaligtasan.
“In the inspection and registration of motor vehicles in areas where there is a complete roll-out of the LTMS MVIRS, results from PMVICs will be utilized,” ani Galvante at dagdag nito, “The results gathered from the PMVICs shall be used as a baseline data to ensure that the system will be able to ensure road worthiness of vehicles plying our roads, thereby improving the road safety standards of the Philippines.”
