‘Constitutional power’ ng Senado ipinakakasa ni Sen. Leila de Lima vs memo ni Pangulong Duterte
Hiniling ni Senator Leila de Lima sa Senado na igiit ang Constitutional power at kondenahin ang utos ni Pangulong Duterte sa kanyang mga opisyal na huwag dumalo sa pagdinig ng Senate Blue Ribbon Committee ukol sa sinasabing Pharmally scandal.
Inihain ni de Lima ang Senate Resolution No. 931 para sa ‘sense of the Senate’ na kumukondena sa memorandum na may petsang Oktubre 4 at inilabas ng Office of the President.
Sinabi ng namumuno sa Senate Committee on Social Justice, Welfare and Rural Development na paglabag sa kapangyarihan ng Senado na makapagasagawa ng pagdinig ng ‘in aid of legislation’ ang utos ni Pangulong Duterte.
Diin pa ni de Lima napapagkaitan din ang mamamayan ng tamang impormasyon ukol sa isyu.
“It is imperative that this Senate assert its constitutional powers and condemn the practices that disrespect and weaken our institution, lest we establish a precedent that would diminish this chamber’s very role in our democracy,” sabi pa nito.
Duda pa ni de Lima nagkaroon ng lakas ng loob dahil sa utos ni Pangulong Duterte kayat hindi na rin dumalo sa pagdinig si dating Budget Usec. Christopher Lao.
