Filipino Carlo Biado, 2021 US Open Pool champion

Makalipas ang halos tatlong dekada, isang Filipino billiard player ang muling tinanghal na US Open Pool champion.

 

Matapos makuha ni Efren ‘Bata’ Reyes ang titulo noong 1994, ang tubong-La Union na si Carlo Biado ang 2021 nagwagi sa US Open Pool Championship.

 

Tinalo niya si Singaporean Aloysius Yapp, 13-8, sa Harrah’s Resort sa Atlantic City, New Jersey.

 

Lamang si Yapp, 8-3, nang sumablay ito sa pagtira sa 9-ball at kinuha na ito ni Biado na oportunidad at nakuha niya ang 10 straight racks para makuha ang titulo.

 

Naipaghiganti ni Biado ang kapwa Filipino na si Dennis Orcollo na tinalo ni Yapp sa semi-finals.

 

Ang dati ng world champion ay umabot sa finals nang talunin niya, 11-9. Si Naoyuki Oi ng Japan.

 

“I am very happy because this event is one of my dreams. I dedicate this to my family and to my baby. Thank you to all of you even during the pandemic you’re still here watching around the world,” sabi ni Biado.

Sa kanyang pagkakapanalo naiuwi ng 37-anyos na si Biado ang $50,000 top prize o P2.5 milyon.
