Warrants of arrest para kina Pangulong Duterte, Bato dela Rosa ilalabas na ng ICC
Naniniwala si Senator Leila de Lima na nalalapit na ang panahon ng pagpapalabas ng International Criminal Court (ICC) ng warrants of arrest para kina Pangulong Duterte at Senator Ronald dela Rosa.
Ito, ayon sa senadora, ay dahil sa patuloy na pagmamatigas ng Malakanyang na hindi makipagtulungan sa pag-iimbestiga sa pagpatay sa libo-libong indibiduwal kasabay nang pagkasa ng ‘war on drugs’ ng administrasyon.
“I welcome with a very glad heart the decision of the Pre-Trial Chamber of the International Criminal Court ordering the start of the preliminary investigation on Rodrigo Duterte (aka ‘Digong’ and ‘Meyor’) and Ronaldo Dela Rosa (aka ‘Bato’), and other security law enforcement officials of the Philippine government, particularly those also involved with the Davao Death Squad from November 2011 to July 2016, for the killings committed in Duterte’s drug war,” ang sabi ni de Lima.
Una nang inihayag ng ICC na sinang-ayunan ng mga hukom ang rekomendasyon na maimbestigahan ang ‘drug related killings’ sa Pilipinas sa kadahilanan na nakitaan ang mga ito ng element ng ‘crimes against humanity.’
Kumalas noong 2019 ang Pilipinas sa ICC, ngunit ayon sa Hague-based International Tribunal maari pa rin maimbestigahan si Pangulong Duterte hanggang bago ang pagtalikod ng bansa sa kasunduan.
“Duterte reminds me of the dictator who refuses to acknowledge the existence of an international community of nations that chose to live within contemporary standards of human rights and civilized polity,” sabi pa ni de Lima.
