National budget dapat ay sumasabay sa COVID 19 pandemic, sabi ni Sen. Sonny Angara
Sinabi ni Senator Sonny Angara na kailangan ay ‘flexible’ ang mga taunang pondo ng mga ahensiya ng gobyerno para makasabay sa pabago-bagong sitwasyon at mga pangangailangan bunga ng pandemya.
Napuna ni Angara, na siyang namumuno sa Senate Committee on Finance, na maraming requirements mula sa ibat-ibang ahensiya ang hindi kasama sa hinihinging national budget sa susunod na taon.
Sa briefing ng Development Budget Coordinating Committee sa Senado kaugnay sa P5.024 trillion 2022 national budget, napansin ng Department of Budget na walang probisyon para sa pagbabakuna sa mga menor de edad, gayundin para sa special risk allowance ng medical frontliners at iba pang maaring pagkakagastusan sa pagtugon ng gobyerno sa COVOD 19 crisis.
“With the emergence of Delta and the other COVID variants, the requirements of our frontline agencies are constantly moving. The situation is changing rapidly and so must our processes pertaining to the submission of the national budget,” sabi ng senador.
Napansin din na sa pambansang pondo para sa susunod na taon, ang may pondo lang ay ang pagbili ng booster shots para sa mga fully vaccinated sa halagang P45 bilyon.
“Agencies should be allowed to submit revisions to their proposed budgets to reflect new developments brought about by the pandemic. The spread of COVID has been rapid and our budget must be able to keep up with it,” dagdag pa ng senador.
