Pagdedeklara sa anim na lugar na ‘protected areas’, isinusulong sa Senado
Inisponsoran ni Senator Cynthia Villar ang anim na panukala na layong maidagdag sa listahan ng ‘protected areas’ ang anim na lugar.
Kasama sa mga panukala ang Mt. Pulag Protected Landscape Act, Banao Protected Landscape Act, Mt. Arayat Landscape Act, Siocon Island Wildlife Sanctuary Act at Naga-Kabasalan Protected Landscape Act.
Nais ni Villar na maisama ang mga nabanggit na lugar sa National Integrated Protected Areas System (NIPAS) para mapakinabangan pa ng mga susunod na henerasyon.
Dagdag pa ng namumuno sa Senate Committee on Environment and Natural Resources, layon din ng mga panukala na mapreserba ang mga halaman at hayop na nasa mga nabanggit na lugar.
“Human activities have a profound impact on all components of the natural environment particularly the effect of increasing population, resource exploitation and industrial advancement,” aniya.
Dagdag katuwiran pa ng senadora, “Because of this, it is critically important to protect and maintain the natural, biological, and physical diversities of the environment.”
Sa ngayon, may 107 protected areas sa bansa at ang mga ito ay kinikilalang national parks.
Una nang isinulong ni Villar ang pagsasabatas ng RA 11038 o ang Expanded National Integrated Protected Areas System Act of 2018.
