Service contracting program Phase 2, inilunsad

Muling inilunsad ng Department of Transportation (DOTr) at Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) ang Service Contracting Program Phase 2, sa ilalim ng General Appropriations Act (GAA) 2021, araw ng Biyernes (September 10).

Pinangunahan ito ni Secretary Art Tugade, kasama si Chairman Martin Delgra III.

Sa ilalim ng naturang programa, makakatanggap ang PUV operators at drivers ng incentives base sa bilang ng trip na kanilang itinakbo kada linggo, may sakay man sila o wala.

“Kaya nga, nandirito kami, masayang inilulunsad ulit ang Service Contracting Program Phase II, sapagkat ito ay mabuti sa lahat, sa ekonomiya, at sa paglago ng negosyo. Ang public transport ay hanapbuhay. Ang public transport ay tulong sa mga naghahanapbuhay. ‘Yan ang tulong ng Service Contracting Program,” pahayag ni Tugade.

Dagdag ng kalihim, “Dahil po sa kabutihan na ibinibigay nitong programang ito, nakikiusap at nagsusumamo ako na tayong lahat ay magkapit-bisig at magkaisa para ang programang ito ay magpatuloy hanggang nandiyan po ‘yung budget na 3 billion.”

Tiniyak naman ni Delgra na patuloy na isusulong ng LTO ang mandato para sa mga kababayan.

“The LTFRB, together with the DOTr, is dedicated to providing sustainable livelihood to the operators, drivers, and to deliver efficient, reliable, safe, and quality public transport for the commuters,” ani Delgra.

Samantala, simula sa September 13, magpapatuloy din ang “Libreng Sakay” para sa health care at essential workers at Authorized Persons Outside Residence (APORs) na bumabiyahe sa gitna ng pandemya.
