Humihirit ang Department of Labor and Employment sa House Committee on Appropriations ng karagdagang P6 bilyong pondo para sa cash aid program para sa mga migrant workers at formal workers na apetado ng pandemya sa COVID-19.
Sa budget hearing, sinabi ni Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III na kung maari ay madagdagan ang alokasyon ng kanilang budget para maayudahan ang mga manggagawa.
Ipinatutupad ng DOLE ang Abot Kamay ang Pagtulong (AKAP) program na nagbibigay ng P10,000 cash assistance sa mga OFW na nawalan ng trabaho.
Sa ilalim naman ng COVID-19 Adjustment Measures Program (CAMP), bibigyan ng P5,000 cash aid ang mga manggagawa na nasa formal sector.
Sa talaan ng Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA¸) aabot sa 3.07 milyong Filipino ang nawalan ng trabaho dahil sa pandemya.
