Nais ni Senator Leila de Lima na maimbestigahan ang paggamit ng bilyong-bilyong pisong pondo ng Basic Education – Learning Continuity Program (BE-LCP) ng Department of Education (DepEd).

Sa paghahain niya ng Senate Resolution No. 887, binanggit ni de Lima ang 2020 annual audit report ng Commission on Audit (COA) sa DepEd, kung saan napuna ang hindi maayos na paggastos ng P8.136 bilyon na nakadagdag pa sa lumalang sitwasyon ng edukasyon sa bansa.

“Despite the current health crisis in the country, the overall management process, procedures, and transactions should not be delayed, and the program should not be affected by the ‘setback’ to ensure the continuity of students’ learning amidst the threat and uncertainties brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic,” aniya.

Nabatid na ang BE-LCP ay binuo para tugunan ang kahirapan sa pagbibigay ng de-kalidad na edukasyon sa mga mag-aaral ngayon may pandemya na hindi nalalagay sa panganib ang kanilang kalusugan.

Kasama sa mga kinuwestiyon na pinagkagastusan ay ang self-learning modules.

Sinabi ni de Lima naobserbahan ng COA ang kakulangan sa pagpa-palano sa paghahanda ng modules, gayundin ang kapalpakan sa pagsusuri ng mga ito.
