Panukalang mailibre sa buwis ang cash incentives ng nanalong athletes, coaches lusot na sa Kamara

Lusot na sa ikatlo at huling pagbasa sa Kamara ang panukalang naglalayong mailibre sa buwis ang mga reward, cash gift o incentive at kahalintulad na matatanggap ng nanalong national athletes at coaches sa international sports competition.

Sa botong 205 na YES at wala namang pagtutol, napagtibay sa plenaryo ang House Bill 9990 o ang panukalang “Hidilyn Diaz Act”.

Sa oras na maging ganap na batas ang panukala, ililibre sa pagbabayad ng donor’s tax at iba pang taxes, fees at charges ang lahat ng uri ng cash gifts na matatanggap ng national athletes at coaches na mananalo ng bronze, silver at gold medal mula sa international sports competition.

Sakop nito ang Olympics, ASEAN games, Asian games, Youth Olympic games, Paralympic games at iba pang international sports competition.

Isinusulong na gawing retroactive ang tax exemption ng mga mananalong atleta mula January 2021 hanggang sa ginanap na 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

Pinaglalatag din ang Department of Finance (DOF) at Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) ng safety measures upang matiyak na naibigay ng buo ang cash incentives sa nanalong manlalaro.
