PCG, magtatayo ng K-9 training facility

Magtatayo ang Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) ng K9 Academy, ang kauna-unahan sa Southeast Asia.

Pinangunahan ni Transportation Secretary Art Tugade ang groundbreaking ceremony para sa pasilidad sa Clark Special Economic Zone sa Pampanga, araw ng Miyerkules (August 25).

“This is my dream and this is my mission [Create the K9 Academy]. Today, we should make it a day of commitment that we shall make it a reality that this K9 Academy will grow fast and good, so that not only the Philippine Coast Guard will benefit, but ang buong sambayan at ang buong ahensiya,” pahayag ng kalihim.

Matutugunan ng K9 Academy ang pangangailangan ng government security forces, na may starting capacity na 100 K9 force at 100 handlers.

Makapagbibigay ang naturang academy ng mga de kalidad na training phases, techniques, at best practices para sa skills at aptitude enhancement ng mga K9 dogs.

Layon din nitong makapagsagawa ng pag-aaral sa WD pedigrees, ang kanilang procurement at breeding, veterinary care at maintenance ng resources, at iba pa.

Kasama sa academy ang limang organisasyon; Canine Development Center, Canine School, Canine Breeding Center, Canine Hospital, at Kennel Management and Biosecurity.

Maliban dito, inanunsiyo rin ni Tugade na bubuksan ang K9 Academy sa lahat ng mga sanga ng gobyerno.

“Tama lang na magkaroon tayo ng K9 Academy pagka’t napagusapan namin ni Commandant Ursabia na hindi lang ililimit ‘yung mga mattrain na K9 sa pangangailangan ng PCG, ito ay iaalok at ipapagamit ko rin sa iba pang Kagawaran, Departamento, at ahensiya ng gobyerno,” saad ng kalihim.
