DOTr: Walang mababago sa public transport supply, capacity kasunod ng pag-iral ng MECQ sa NCR, Bataan at Laguna
Inihayag ng Department of Transportation (DOTr) na mananatili ang public transport supply at capacity sa National Capital Region (NCR), Laguna, at Bataan downgrade sa kasagsagan ng Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine (MECQ)
Kasunod ng patuloy na pagtaas ng kaso ng COVID-19 at banta ng bago nitong variants, nagpaalala si Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade sa mga commuter at transport workers na istriktong sundin ang health at safety measures.
Aniya, tanging ang Authorized Persons Outside Residence (APORs) na tinukoy ng Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) ang papayagang ma-accommodate sa public transport services.
“As the threat of COVID-19 and Delta variant cases soar, the public should remain vigilant, especially in using public transport,” pahayag ni Tugade at aniya pa, “Just like during the ECQ period, there will be stricter enforcement of safety measures to ensure that only APORs are permitted to use public transport.”
Sa kasagsagan ng MECQ sa Metro Manila, lahat ng uri ng transportasyon, pampubliko man o pribado, may special permits, o dedicated service sa inisyatibo ng gobyerno, ay kailangan magpatupad ng physical distancing at health measures sa lahat ng oras.
Sa road transport sector, maaring makapag-operate ang public utility buses at jeepneys hanggang 50 porsyentong maximum capacity na may “one-seat-apart” rule.
Hindi papayagan ang mga nakatayong pasahero at isang pasahero lamang ang papayagang nakaupo sa driver’s row.
Pwede pa rin ang motorcycle taxi services at Transport Network Vehicle Service (TNVS) operations.
Isang pasahero naman ang papayagan sa kada tricycle, kasunod ng pag-apruba ng Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) at mga local government unit alinsunod sa ipinatutupad na polisiya sa operational limitations.
Sa railway sector naman, tuloy pa rin ang operasyon ng Philippine National Railways (PNR), LRT-1, LRT-2, at MRT-3.
Pagdating naman sa aviation at maritime sectors, papayagan din ang domestic flights at sea travel sa NCR sa pag-iral ng MECQ.
Samantala, ipagtutuloy din ng Inter-Agency Council for Traffic (I-ACT) at transport marshals ang pagtitiyak na tumatalima ang mga motorista sa safety protocols.
Magiging epektibo ang MECQ sa NCR, Bataan at Laguna simula sa August 21 hanggang 31, 2021.
