BI, tiniyak ang uninterrupted service sa mga pauwing overseas Filipino

Siniguro ng Bureau of Immigration (BI) na handa ang kanilang mga tauhan sa international airports sa pagproseso ng libu-libong returning overseas Filipinos na napauwi mula sa ibang bansa dahil sa pagpapatuloy ng COVID-19 pandemic.

Pahayag ito ni Immigration Commissioner Jaime Morente matapos isalarawan ni Foreign Affairs Secretary Teodoro Locsin Jr. ang nagpapatuloy na repatriation ng overseas Filipinos bilang pinakamalaki sa kasaysayan ng Pilipinas.

Sinabi ni Morente na titiyakin nilang sapat ang bilang ng immigration officers na naka-deploy sa mga paliparan upang maging maayos ang pag-aasikaso sa mga pasahero ng repatriation flights.

“We assure our returning Kababayans, the airlines, airport authorities, and organizers of these repatriation efforts that we have the sufficient manpower to address their needs insofar as conducting immigration formalities for these passengers are concerned,” ayon kay Morente.

Sinabi naman ni Atty. Carlos Capulong, pinuno ng BI Port Operations Division, dumami ang mga padating na repatriated Filipinos matapos bigyan ng awtorisasyon ng Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Infectious Diseases (IATF-MEID) ang iba’t ibang airline company na magkaroon ng special commercial flights na magsusundo sa mga Filipino na stranded sa ibang bansa dahil sa pandemya.

Patuloy aniya ang pag-operate ng ahensya sa full capacity sa Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) sa kabila ng implementasyon ng Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) sa Metro Manila.

“Despite the health risks they face, our immigration officers at international ports are making a worthy sacrifice in reporting for duty to ensure that our services to the traveling public are not hampered and interrupted,” saad ng BI official.
