Sen. Imee Marcos nangangamba sa pagkakaroon ng supply shortage ng mga medical equipment
Nagbabala si Senator Imee Marcos sa posibilidad ng pagkakaroon ng kakulangan sa suplay ng mga gamit pangkalusugan dahil sa pag-iimbak ng mga may kakayahan na pumakyaw ng mga ito.
Aniya suportado niya ang utos ng Department of Justice sa National Bureau of Investigation na imbestigahan ang mga kaso ng hoarding ng oxygen tanks partikular na sa Cebu.
Binanggit din nito ang sitwasyon sa Aklan kung saan ay nagkakaubusan na ng oxygen tanks sa kabila ng sobrang pagtaas ng presyo kasabay nang pagdami ng kaso ng COVID-19.
Bunga nito, hiniling ng namumuno sa Senate Committee on Economic Affairs na magpatupad ng 60-day prize freeze sa mga pangunahing bilihin, maging sa medical supplies at equipment sa pinakamadaling panahon.
Dapat din aniya bantayan ng Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) at PNP ang mga namamakyaw at nagtatago ng mga bilihin kayat nadedehado ang ibang konsyumer.
“Under the Consumer Act, if found to have committed an unfair and unconscionable sales act or practice, an administrative sanction of up to P300,000.00 may be imposed and/or imprisonment of up to one (1) year. For profiteering, the Price Act provides for the imposition of a fine of up to P2,000,000.00 and/or imprisonment of up to 15 years,” diin ng senadora.
