Pasok na sa quarterfinals ang pambato ng Pilipinas na si Ernest John ‘EJ’Obiena sa men’s pole vault competition sa Tokyo Olympics.
Ito ay matapos makuha ni Obiena ang ika-10 pwesto at ikalima sa Group B sa 5.75 meters.
Nabatid na dalawang beses na pumalya si Obiena bago nakuha ang flawless run sa ikatlong attempt sa 5.50m at 5.56m.
Sa Augst 3 nakatakda ang final round sa pole vault competition.
