Nagdesisyon ang FIBA Board na ipagpaliban ang nakatakdang FIBA Asia Cup sa Indonesia hanggang sa Hulyo sa susunod na taon dahil sa pandemya dulot pa rin ng COVID 19.
Nakatakda sana ang pinakamalaking torneo sa Asya sa darating na Agosto 16 hanggang 28 sa Jakarta, ang kapitolyo ng Indonesia.
Sa pulong ng FIBA Asia Board sa Lebanon noong nakaraang Miyerkules, ikinunsidera ang lumalalang sitwasyon ng COVID 19 sa Indonesia.
Sumulat na si FIBA Executive Director for Asia Hagop Khajirian sa Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas para ipaalam ang bagong schedule ng torneo, na kasunod na ng FIBA Basketball World Cup Asia qualifiers.
“This evaluation has taken into consideration multiple aspects such as current travel restrictions, the well-being of the participants, fan access and experience, and the objective of ensuring the highest quality of events,” ang pahayag ni Khajirian sa kanyag sulat sa SBP.
