Presidential power para ibaba ang presyo ng mga produktong-petrolyo inihirit

Nais ni Senator Imee Marcos na mabigyan ng kapangyarihan ang pangulo ng bansa na maibaba o suspindihin ang paniningil ng value-added tax (VAT) sa mga produktong-petrolyo sa tuwing may national emergency o state of calamity.

Base sa inihain ni Marcos na Senate Bill No. 2320, ang pagsuspindi ng pangulo ng bansa sa VAT sa mga produktong-petrolyo ay hindi tatagal ng isang taon.

Katuwiran ng senadora sa kanyang panukala, ito ay para matulungan ang mga konsyumer sa tuwing may national emergencies.

Layon ng panukala na amyendahan ang Sections 106 at 107 ng National Internal Revenue Code.

“The higher cost of goods and services that are, in part, due to the uptick of fuel prices, are expectedly passed on to the ordinary consumer who may still be unemployed but has no choice but to deal with the rising prices of everyday essential commodities,” banggit ni Marcos.

Nilinaw naman nito na para hindi malugi ang gobyerno, pananatilihin ang ipinapataw na excise taxes sa mga produktong-petrolyo.
