Panukalang LPG Industry Regulation Act malapit ng maging batas

Tiwala si Senator Sherwin Gatchalian na makalipas ang 18 taon magiging ganap ng batas ang isinusulong na LPG Industry Regulation Act.

Ayon kay Gatchalian inaprubahan na sa bicameral conference committee ang panukala na layon bigyan proteksyon ang mga konsyumer sa paggamit ng LPG o cooking gas.

Ibinahagi ng namumuno sa Senate Committee on Energy kapag naging ganap na batas, mapapagbuti na ng industry players ang kalidad ng kanilang produkto, gayundin ang serbisyo.

Maari na rin aniya na magkaroon ng ‘cylinder exchange’ at ‘swapping program’ kung saan maaring bumili ang konsyumer ng gusto niyang brand ng LPG kahit iba ang tatak ng kanyang tangke.

“With one unified LPG bill that will ultimately govern the entire LPG industry, we can now fill in the regulatory gaps that are being experienced by our industry players and strengthen the various regulations issued by the government. Most important of all, it will provide safety standards for the protection of the consumers by eliminating unsafe cylinders from circulation,” diin ni Gatchalian.

Naplantsa na ang mga pagkakaiba sa nilalaman ng hiwalay na panukala mula sa Senado at Kamara.

Iginiit nito ang kahalagahan ng pagkakaroon ng regulasyon na gagabay sa industriya at magbibigay ng ibayong proteksyon sa mga konsyumer.

“Matutuldukan na rin ang mga maling gawain ng ilang negosyante tulad ng pandaraya sa timbang at importasyon ng mga second-hand cylinders o containers kapag tuluyan na itong naisabatas,” sabi pa nito.
