37.2 milyong Filipino, rehistrado na para sa national ID – NEDA
Lagpas na sa 37 milyon ang bilang ng mga Filipino na nagparehistro para sa Philippine Identification System or PhilSys, ayon sa National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA).
Mula sa zero registrations sa pagsisimula ng pandemya noong April 2020, iniulat ng Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) na hanggang July 2, 2021, umabot na sa 37.2 milyong indibiduwal ang nakapagparehistro sa unang step nito o ang demographic data collection.
Nasa 16.2 milyong Pilipino naman ang nakakumpleto na ng step 2 registration o biometrics capture habang 343,742 ang nakatanggap na ng kanilang PhilID cards.
“The COVID-19 crisis underscores the need to provide unhampered access to banking and social services for all Filipinos, especially the poor,” pahayag ni Socioeconomic Planning Secretary Karl Kendrick Chua.
Dgadga nito, “This is why the President gave the directive to accelerate the implementation of the Philippine Identification System or PhilSys to provide all Filipinos a unique and digitalized ID.”
Upang maging ligtas ang rollout ng PhilSys sa gitna ng pandemya at masunod ng social distancing, nagpatpad ang PSA ng three-step registration process.
Unang step ang demographic data collection kung saan ginagawa sa house-to-house o online registration; sumunod diot ang biometrics capture sa mga itinalagang; at ang ikatlo naman ang paglalabas ng PhilSys Number o PSN at PhilID card.
Nakipagtulungan ang PhilSys sa Landbank of the Philippines (LBP) upang makapagbukas ang registrants ng bank accounts sa registration centers.
Sa datos hanggang July 2, 2021, nasa 4.4 milyong registrants ang nag-apply para sa account sa LBP.
Nasa 50 hanggang 70 milyon ang target registrations ng gobyerno sa pagtatapos ng taong 2021.
“This will help the government efficiently identify beneficiaries for social protection programs and spark the widespread use of electronic payments to accelerate the digital economy,” saad ni Chua.
