Pumalo na sa mahigit 109 milyon ang populasyon sa Pilipinas hanggang May 2020.
Sa Proclamation No. 1179 ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte, nakasaad na umabot na sa 109,035,343 ang kabuuang populasyon sa bansa hanggang May 1, 2020, base sa census ng Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA).
Matatandaang idineklara ng Pangulo ang May 2020 bilang “National Census Month.”
Ngunit dahil sa pandemya, inurong ang pagsasagawa ng 2020 Census of Population and Housing noong September 2020.
Pirmado ng Punong Ehekutibo ang proklamasyon noong Martes, July 6, ngunit inilabas sa media ang kopya nito sa araw ng Miyerkules, July 7.
