Higit 87,000 katao, naisailalim sa swab test sa Subic COVID-19 testing center sa loob ng isang taon
Umabot sa kabuuang 87,000 katao ang sumailalim sa pagsusuri sa Subic Bay Freeport isang taon matapos simulan ang operasyoon ng swabbing center at COVID-19 molecular laboratory noong June 23, 2020.
Ang mga pasilidad ay proyekto ng Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA) at Philippine Red Cross (PRC) kung saan ang SBMA ang nag-ooperate ng swabbing center habang ang PRC ang nagmamando sa molecular laboratory kung saan sinusuri ang mga nakokolektang sample.
Dumalo sina PRC Chairman at CEO Senator Richard Gordon at SBMA Chairman at Administrator Wilma Eisma sa virtual anniversary press conference nito.
Binati ni PRC Secretary-General Liza Zaballa ang mga staff na nag-ooperate sa mga pasilidad at nagpasalamat para sa patuloy na serbisyo.
Ayon naman kay Eisma, malaking instrumento ang dalawang establisyemento upang labanan ang COVID-19.
“These facilities gave Subic an advantage. They helped us establish that Subic was a safe haven—a virtual bubble where people can continue to do business with all the necessary health safety protocols and facilities in place,” saad nito.
Dahil aniya sa ligtas na imahe, madaling napili ang Subic Bay Freeport na maging lokasyon para sa international crew change operations, quarantine site para sa mga darating na overseas Filipino workers, destinasyon para sa bubble sports tournament, at atraksyon sa mga turista.
Dagdag nito, “In fact, some production, importation and exportation projects kept growing since last year because Subic has remained to be a relatively safe venue for economic activities.”
Maliban sa swabbing center, sinabi ng SMBA Chief na sinimulan din ng Subic agency ang establisyemento ng isolation facilities sa Freeport noong nakaraang taon upang magamit ng Freeport residents, locator workers, SBMA employees, at residente ng malalapit na komunidad.
Nagpatupad din ang SBMA ng cashless public transportation system, online medical at dental consultation, online job fairs, online public bidding para sa mga proyekto, online seminars at virtual meetings, drive-through markets, at quarantine hotels.
Sa datos hanggang June 22, 2021 umabot lamang sa 119 ang naitalang COVID-19 cases sa mga residente ng Freeport noong 2020, kung saan 13 ang aktibo, 105 ang gumaling, at isa ang nasawi.
Nasa 99 naman ang kumpirmadong kaso sa hanay ng mga empleyado ng SBMA, kung saan pito ang aktibo pa, 88 ang naka-recover na habang apat ang pumanaw.
