Bilang result ng pinaigting na border protection ng Bureau of Customs – Port of Subic, nasamsa ang isang shipment na naglalaman ng Fresh Red Onion noong June 14, 2021.
Dumating ang kargamento sa Port of Subic noong May 29, 2021 at naka-consign sa Gingarnion Agri Trading.
Unang idineklara na naglalaman ang kargamento ng Fresh Yellow Onion, ngunit base sa eksaminasyon, Fresh Red Onion ang tunay na laman nito.
Nakabigo ang consignee na kumuha ng Sanitary and Phytosanitary Import Clearance (SPSIC) mula sa Department of Agriculture – Bureau of Plant Industry.
Tinatayang nagkakahalaga ng kargamento ng P9 milyon.
Tiniyak ng BOC na patuloy nilang hihigpitan ang border protection measures laban sa smuggling at customs fraud.
