QC, magpapakalat ng air quality sensors sa pollution hotspots sa lungsod

Magpapakalat ang Quezon City government ng air quality monitoring sensors sa lungsod upang malaman ang pollution levels at makabuo ng kinakailangang solusyon para magkaroon ng mas malinis na hangin.

Tinanggap nina Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte at Environment Protection and Waste Management Department (EPWMD) head Andrea Villaroman ang walong air quality sensors at “Roadmap for Quezon City’s Air Quality Management Plan” mula sa Clean Air Asia at C40 Cities Climate Leadership Group sa pamamagitan ng kanilang C40 Air Quality Technical Assistance Program.

Masusukat ng sensors ang pollutants na lumalabas sa mga sasakyan, trak, at industrial facilities.

“Through these air quality monitoring sensors, we will be able to gather the city’s air quality baseline data that will help us in planning and determining programs, projects and policies to reach our goal,” pahayag ni Belmonte.

“It contributes to the realization of our city’s 14-point agenda, specifically agenda number 10, which is to build a livable, green and sustainable city,” dagdag nito.

Nagpasalamat ang alklade para sa tuluy-tuloy na suporta ng C40 Cities at Clean Air Asia upang mapabuti ang kalidad ng hangin sa lungsod.

Sa loob ng dalawang buwan, ilalagay ang monitoring sensors sa tinatawag na “pollution hotspots” o mga lugar na may mataas na air pollution exposure.

Sa ngayon, tinukoy ng QC LGU na kabilang sa monitoring sites ang Novaliches, Sto. Domingo at Quezon Memorial Circle.

Maliban sa sensors at roadmap, magkakaroon din ng serye ng technical trainings para sa mga opisyal mula sa EPWMD, Information Technology Development Department (ITDD), at Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (DRRMO) para mapagtibay ang kapasidad ng kanilang operasyon at pamunuan ng air quality monitoring network.
