Pag-angat ng mga preso, detenido sa vaccine priority list inihirit sa IATF

Hiniling ni Senator Leila de Lima sa Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) na mapabilang na rin ang mga tinatawag na persons deprived o liberty (PDL) sa mga prayoridad sa COVID-19 vaccines.

Sa kanyang sulat sa IATF, ikinatuwiran ni de Lima na sobrang siksikan na ang mga kulungan sa bansa at hirap na ipatupad ang basic health protocols lalo na ang physical distancing sa hanay ng mga preso o detenido.

“This representation respectfully suggests that our PDLs likewise be considered to move up the [vaccination priority] list, particularly in areas with high COVID-19 incidence. I implore the IATF to take into consideration the particular vulnerabilities in the case of the PDLs as justification for their immediate vaccination,” ang banggit ni de Lima sa kanyang sulat.

Binanggit niya na ang National Bilibid Prison ay 343 porsiyentong sobra-sobra sa kapasidad, 482 porsiyento naman sa Quezon City Jail at ang Manila City Jail ay 376 porsiyento na labis sa limitasyon ng bilang ng mga nakakulong.

Sinabi pa ni de Lima na marami sa PDLs ay wala pang sentensiya at itinuturing na inosente kayat dapat ay protektahan na agad sila laban sa nakakamatay na sakit.

Sa pambansang piitan sa Muntinlupa City, ilang high-value prisoners na ang nasawi dahil sa COVID-19.
