Libreng sakay sa vaccination sites, inihirit ni Sen. Poe
Sinabi ni Senator Grace Poe na maaring magamit ang P5.58 bilyong pondo ng Service Contracting Program ng Department of Transportation (DOTr) para sa libreng sakay patungo sa vaccination centers.
Naniniwala si Poe na sa pag-aalok ng libreng sakay, mas maraming senior citizens, persons with disabilities (PWDs) at mga mahihirap ang mahihikayat na magpaturok ng COVID,19 vaccine.
Aniya, ang nabanggit na pondo ay nailaan sa Bayanihan 2 at bahagi ng ayuda para sa mga public transport drivers na nawalan ng hanapbuhay dahil sa pandemya.
Dagdag pa ng senadora, napakahalaga ng transportasyon sa ikinakasang vaccination rollout program at dapat ay naisip ng gobyerno ito para sa hirap na makapunta sa vaccination centers.
“Free rides will encourage more of our people to get the shot and expand vaccine access to communities,” sabi pa ni Poe at dagdag pa niya, “the big task at hand is promoting confidence among our people in the effectiveness and safety of the vaccines to increase uptake, as well as in the government’s capacity to manage the logistical challenge that goes with efforts to give the people the shots against the virus.”
