CHR, pinuri ang DSWD sa pagbibigay ng women livelihood support
Pinuri ng Commission on Human Rights (CHR) ang pagbibigay ng Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) ng livelihood support sa mga kababaihan, sa pamamagitan ng Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP), sa gitna ng pandemya.
Ang SLP ay isang capacity building program na nagbibigay ng oportunidad sa vulnerable, marginalised, at disadvantaged na indibiduwal, pamilya at komunidad upang mapalaki ang kanilang livelihood assets.
“While most of the efforts being made by the government is focused on alleviating the pandemic, the responsibility to provide support for the underprivileged remains. This especially rings true since the pandemic has directly affected the employment of many Filipinos,” pahayag ni CHR Spokesperson, Atty Jacqueline Ann de Guia.
Binanggit din ni de Guia ang Article 25 ng Universal Declaration of Human Rights kung saan nakalahad na karapatan ng bawat mamamayan ang pagkakaroon ng mga pangunahing pangangailangan tulad ng pagkain, damit at tirahan para sa kalusugan.
“The Commission extends its gratitude and support to DSWD for the unhampered provision of social welfare assistance to low-income Filipino women and their families affected by the ongoing health crisis,” dagdag nito.
Hinikayat naman ng DSWD ang mga interesadong lumahok na magpaasiste sa SLP Project Development Officers sa kanilang lugar.
