CHR, nag-iimbestiga sa tangkang pag-ambush kay Ex-Rep. Andaya

Naalarma ang Commission on Human Rights (CHR) sa tangkang pag-ambush kay dating Camarines Sur Rep. Rolando Andaya Jr. noong Martes, June 1.

Nakaligtas si Andaya at ang kaniyang mga kasamahan sa pamamaril ng hindi pa nakikilalang riding-in-tandem.

Kahit nakaligtas sa ambush, inihayag ni CHR Spokesperson, Atty Jacqueline Ann de Guia ang pagtuligsa sa vigilante-style violence.

Hiniling ni de Guia sa mga awtoridad na magsagawa ng imbestigasyon upang malaman ang tunay na motibo sa kaso.

Sa papalapit na 2022 elections, hinikayat ng CHR ang gobyerno na higpitan ang protection measures laban sa posibleng election-related violence.

“This increase in vigilante activities has negative implications on the country’s security and the democratic process in general,” paliwanag nito.

Giit pa nito, “We also emphasise that if such attack against a high-profile individual could be done in broad daylight, ordinary citizens are more vulnerable to be victims of this kind of violation.”

Sa ngayon, sinabi ni de Guia na nag-iimbestiga at nakikipag-ugnayan na ang CHR Region V sa mga lokal na awtoridad upang mabigyang liwanag ang kaso.
