2.5 na toneladang smuggled animal medicines, nasabat ng BOC

Nasabat ng Bureau of Customs (BOC) ang 2.5 tonelada ng veterinary medicines na ilegal na na-import sa bansa.

Sanib-pwersa sa operasyon ang Piers Inspection Division (PID) ng Manila International Container Port, Customs Intelligence and Investigation Service (CIIS), Enforcement and Security Service (ESS) at mga miyembro ng MICP Formal Entry Division (FED).

Nagmula ang shipment sa India at unang idineklara bilang latex gloves.

Nang isailalim sa inspeksyon, nadiskubre ang iba’t ibang animal medicines na tinatayang nagkakahalaga ng P5 milyon.

Inilabas ang warrant of seizure detention (WSD) laban sa shipment.

Isasailalim ang shipment sa mas masusing imbestigasyon dahil sa posibleng paglabag sa Section 1113 na may kinalaman sa Section 1400 ng Republic Act 10863 o Customs Modernization and Tariff Act (CMTA).

Paalala ng MICP sa mga importer, tiyaking mayroong permits ang mga gamot.

Nagbabala rin ang BOC sa publiko na maaring magdulot ng hindi magandang epekto sa kalusugan ang paggamit ng smuggled medicines.
