P20-M halaga ng mga smuggled na sasakyan, nasamsam sa Maynila

Kasabay ng mas matibay na border security efforts, nasamsam ng Bureau of Customs (BOC) – Manila International Container Port (MICP), katuwang ang Customs Intelligence and Investigation Service (CIIS), ang tatlong hinihinalang smuggled na sasakyan noong araw ng Miyerkules, June 2.

Ayon sa ahensya, unang idineklara ang shipment bilang “used truck parts.”

Nagmula ang shipment sa Japan at naka-consign sa JLFDM Consumer Goods Trading.

Dahil sa natanggap na impormasyon ukol sa shipment, naglabas ng Alert Order laban dito.

Sa isinagawang physical inspection, nadiskubre na nakabalot ng ukay-ukay ang tatlong sasakyan.

Natukoy ang mga mamahaling sasakyan na isang unit ng Ferrari F430 Scuderia, isang unit ng Mercedes Benz SLK 55 AMG at isang unit ng Mercedes Benz E220.

Tinatayang aabot sa P20 milyon ang halaga ng tatlong sasakyan.

Agad namang inilabas ang Warrant of Seizure and Detention (WSD) laban sa shipment dahil sa posibleng paglabag sa Section 1400 ng Republic Act (RA) 10863, otherwise o Customs Modernization and Tariff Act (CMTA).
