Drug records walang epekto sa national security sabi ng Supreme Court – Sen. Drilon
Sinabi ni Senate Minority Leader Frank Drilon na walang anumang implikasyon sa pambansang seguridad ang records ng madugong anti-drug operations ng Philippine National Police (PNP).
Kayat, ayon kay Drilon, dapat ay sumunod ang PNP sa naging desisyon ng Korte Suprema sa Almora et al and Dano et al versus the PNP noong 2018.
“In the words of the Supreme Court, drug war records ‘ do not obviously involve state secrets affecting national security’ for the information and documents relate to routine police operations involving violations of laws against the sale or use of illegal drugs,” paliwanag pa ng senador.
Diin niya, karapatan ng mamamayan na malaman ang katotohanan at ang sinasabing anti-drug operations’ records ay itinuturing na public records.
“The PNP is walking on a thin line between following the high court’s order or keeping the records under wraps. But they must abide by the court ruling,” payo ni Drilon.
Binanggit pa nito na noong 2018, ibinasura na ng Korte Suprema ang depensa ng Office of the Solicitor General sa kaso na kinasasangkutan ng noon ay PNP chief at ngayon ay Sen. Ronald dela Rosa, na maaring makaapekto sa national security ang pagsasapubliko ng drug war records.
Aniya, nais lang malaman ng publiko ang detalye ng pagkamatay ng mga libu-libong katao sa ikinasang war on drugs ng Duterte administrasyon.
