Pagpapatupad ng mahigpit na protocols sa public transport iginiit ni Sec. Tugade
Ipinalala ni Transport Secretary Arthur Tugade sa mga driver at operator ng mga pampublikong sasakyan ang mahigpit na pagpapatupad ng health protocols upang labanan ang pagkalat ng COVID-19.
Ito ay kasunod ng mga ulat na may mga PUVs nagiging maluwag ang pagsunod sa mga health protocols ng pamahalaan.
“I am reminding our PUV drivers and operators that they are the government’s partners in the fight against COVID-19. Their participation in this fight is crucial as they are the ones on the frontlines. They should not just ensure that their vehicles are sanitized all the time, but must also be constantly reminding passengers of the need to observe basic health protocols,” pahayag ni Tugade.
Bukod sa mga driver at operator, sabi ni Tugade kailangang makiisa ang mga pasahero sa pagsunod sa minimum health protocols sa loob ng mga PUVs tulad ng pagsusuot ng face masks at face shields.
Dapat din anyang sundin ang physical distancing, hindi pagkain at pakikipag-usap sa loob ng mga sasakyan.
Dapat din anyang ugaliin ang paghuhugas ng mga kamay at paggamit ng alcohol.
“May pandemya pa ho. Dapat lahat tayo ay sumunod sa pagpapatupad ng proper health protocols gaya ng pagsusuot ng face mask, face shield, palagiang paghuhugas ng kamay at proper physical distancing. Lahat po ay dapat sumunod dito, ikaw man ay pasahero, driver o operator,” dagdag ni Tugade.
Iginiit din nito ang kanyang panawagan na maglagay ng transport marshals sa loob ng mga pampublikong sasakyang upang matiyak na nasusunod ang health protocols.
Samantala, inulit ni Tugade ang kanyang atas sa Land Transportation Office (LTO), Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) at Inter-Agency Council for Traffic (I-ACT) upang palakasin ang operasyon laban sa mga PUV operators at drivers na hindi ipinapatupad ang health protocols.
“Failure by the driver and the operator to enforce these health and safety protocols could possibly lead to the suspension or revocation of their franchise, as these can be considered breaches of their franchise conditions. Kung wala namang physical distancing, overloading ‘yan,” saad ni Tugade.
Mahigpit din nitong utos sa mga law enforcement at regulatory agencies na nasa ilalim ng Department of Transportation (DOTr) na habulin ang mga operators ng mga colorum na sasakyan na nagsasakay ng mga pasahero mula at patungo sa Metro Manila.
“Hindi ho tayo uusad sa ating laban kontra sa COVID kung tahasan nating nilalabag ang mga quarantine protocols. Isantabi muna natin ang pansariling interes para isalba ang buhay ng nakararami,” dagdag ng transport chief.
