55 distressed Filipinos, nakauwi na ng bansa

Nakabalik na ng Pilipinas ang 55 distressed Filipinos, ayon sa Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA).

Inayos ng Philippine Embassy sa Myanmar, katuwang ang kagawaran at Philippine Airlines, ang special chartered sweeper flight noong May 29.

Kabilang sa mga na-repatriate ang 37 lalaki at 18 babae mula sa Myanmar; Phnom Penh, Cambodia; at Bangkok, Thailand.

Inorganisa ang repatriation flight upang asistihan ang mga stranded Filipino sa Myanmar dahil sa kakulangan ng available na commercial flights bunsod ng COVID-19 pandemic.

Karamihan sa mga na-repatriate ay nakatira sa Yangon, anim sa Thahtay Kyun Island sa Thanintharyi Region.

Binigyan ng embahada ang distressed Filipinos ng pansamantalang hotel accommodation mula Thahtay Kyun at naasistihan ang walong Filipino sa pagbayad ng kanilang overstay fees.

Maliban sa mga Filipino, naiuwi rin ng Philippine Embassy sa Yangon ang unang alagang pusa, isang domestic short-haired cat na may pangalang Jon Snow White, ng isang Pinay na kasama sa biyahe.
